"Stop child marriage campaign" is now your active project.

“An educated Malawian girl has high earning potential, enjoys good health, she is less likely to marry as a teenager, has fewer children, less likely to be a victim of gender based violence, more likely to educate her children and be productive to the community and the country at large.”

The overall goal of this project is to contribute to the reduction of incidences of child marriages propagated by cultural practices.

The advocacy goal of this project is that by the end of the project, local leaders implement the newly formed local by-laws that support girls’ development and prevent child marriage in Chiradzulo district. This will be achieved through having the targeted local leaders commit to the implementation of modified practices and criminalization of harmful traditional practices that contribute to child marriages, increasing awareness and knowledge levels about the negative effect of harmful traditional practices on adolescent girls among local leaders and to influence local leaders to develop and implement a plan to reduce child marriage in Chiradzulo district.
